Christmas 2012 Giveaway

with 198 Comments

A box in the mail is generally a fun thing to get, but when it’s full of books that you’ve written, and you’re seeing them for the first time, it’s even more special!

Such was the case with my book, The Rhyme Bible Storybook, which has been in print since 1996, but which got a facelift this year with brand new art by a talented French artist named Laurence Cleyet-Merle:

Page from the Rhyme Bible

Before starting Digital Scrapper, I wrote many children’s picture books that were published by various publishers, such as Harvest House, David C Cook, Multnomah Press, Gold’n’Honey, and Zonderkidz. (Now there’s no time to write books!)

One of the assignments I gave to my students in my class, Your Story. Brilliant., was to scrap about things they had accomplished, so as an example I made this page about my books:

Scrapbook Page of Books I've Written

I’ve circled the original Rhyme Bible Storybook. (There are three versions—the other two are for toddlers and babies.)

Here’s what the new edition of the book looks like. It’s smaller in size, but has really nice paper to support the bright colors of the revised artwork.

Rhyme Bible Cover

Since today is Christmas, and we wouldn’t be celebrating Christmas if the Christmas Story had never happened, I thought I would give away five copies of my book.

To enter the drawing, leave a comment below telling me why you want the book. On New Year’s Eve 2012, I will choose my favorite comment for one giveaway, and the other four winners will be chosen randomly using a number generator.

Here’s a page from the nativity story:

New Version of the Rhyme Bible

As the angels said to the shepherds so long ago when they announced the baby in a manger:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,

Linda Sattgast

What a wonderful book. I would love to win it to give to my 1 month old great-great niece for her very first book. I will probably never see her in person as they live in Hawaii but she is the cutest little thing and a book so precious would make a wonderful gift for her.

Linda, Hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas and all will have a Happy New Year. I just returned from a visit to my family that includes 4 great grands (5, 3, 2 and weeks) and one on the way so I have children on my mind. Whether I win one or not, it will be on their bookshelves by next Christmas. Thanks for putting some ‘oomph’ in my life with digital scrapbooking. I’m not good at it but I’ll getting there!

    Hello,

I would love to have this book to add to my collection for my grandchildren. I simply love children’s books, always have since my days in college studing Early Childhood Education. When my children were young we always read the Bible story when we set out the Nativity…Baby Jesus couldn’t be placed in the manager until them. Now my children have started tradidtions of their own….which includes the Nativity story and Twas the Night Before…which are read in the family gathering before the kids head to bed.

Linda, I would love to have a copy of The Rhyme Bible Storybook! I could tell you that I want it for the grandchildren (we have nine grandchildren), and I would enjoy reading it to them; but I really want it for myself! It would be very special to have a copy, to remind me of the days in Sutcliffe Hall or on Pacific Street! I’m proud to claim that I knew you then, and I would be proud to have a copy of this book!! Linda – I would love to have the Rhyme Bible book for our 2 grandkids, Alysen – 8 and Mason 2. Alysen would definitely read it to Mason and so it would ‘grow’ with them.

I am overwhemled by the warmth and support I have received since joining Digital Scrapper. Your Christmas message was wonderful to receive – thank you. This was our year to be with our ‘grands’ at Christmas in Texas – very special. We arrived home in FL today – bringing all the love of the season with us.

Have a wonderful New Year. Vickie Rose

    Linda,

I am new to Digital Scrapbook and am overwhelmed by your warmth and support. I never expected that I would get such support with my first scrapbooking efforts with PSE 10. I am so glad I decided to insert the dvd of scrapbooking that came with my pse 10 purchase. It was heartwarming to get your Christmas wishes on Christmas Day. This was ‘our’ year to spend Christmas with our grandkids in Texas. We spent a holy and wonderful week with Alysen – 8 and Mason – 2. I would love for them to have the Rhyme Bible book. Alysen will gladly read it to Mason, and so it will grow with them. I also will be anxious to read it to them both on our next trip to Texas. Thanks. Vickie Rose

Growing up, my father was an atheist and would not allow his children to go to church. I had to find Him and come to know Him on my own. I want to teach my grandkids the importance of knowing how much God love’s them now while they are so young.
I love Hime with all my heart and forgive my dad for his non-belief.

A couple weeks ago while I was visiting my 3 1/2 year old Grandson, he told his Mommy that he’d like to meet Jesus. Her reply was you better ask your Grammy about that, so he turns to me and says “Grammy, do you know Jesus, can I meet him” Your rhyming Bible would be a great way to introduce him. That’s why I want the book. Thank you for the opportunity..God Bless

When my daughter was young, she had a favorite Bible Stories for Children book that she read over and over. Now that we have grandchildren (and a new infant on the way with my step-son and his wife), it would be very special to present them with such a cherished gift. Not only would it be extra-special because it’s directly from the author (YOU!) but it would be a perfect gift for the baby to welcome him to this world.

I’m among the many grandmothers who would love this book for my granddaughters. I lost my husband this year and they drove all the way from Massachusetts to Florida to make this a special Christmas. They are ages 16, 4, and 3 months. My beautiful Autumn Rose, who is 4, loves her books and enjoys being read to and although we love Dr. Seuss and the Grouchy Ladybug, I think it’s important to learn the wonderful stories of the bible and she’s at the perfect age.

I would love this to give to our one and only granddaughter!! We hope to have more in a couple years but right now we only have the one and it’s a miracle. She was given to us by our daughter that we took in when she was sixteen. She literally was on a road straight to hell and brought us much anxiety for a few years. But the Lord would not let us give up on her. When she got pregnant out there living what she thought was the “life”, she totally switched and gave her life back to Christ! She named our grandbaby, Genesis Neveah. Genesis for new beginnings and Neveah for Heaven spelled backwards. She brings such joy to our lives and is a constant reminder never to give up on anyone!!

I volunteer with an “International Friends” program at our church. They come to learn Conversational English. In 2012, persons from 19 different countries participated in these classes. We also offer a Citizenship class, crafts classes, cooking classes, and Bible classes.
Each year for Christmas we give their children a book called “The Baby Bible Stories about Jesus.” It is simply written and tells sweet stories of Jesus. Our hope and prayer is that the parents will read it too, and discover real truths about who Jesus is. I would like a copy of your book for the nursery teachers to read in class, and for our staff to consider for next year’s gifts to the IFG kids.

In today’s world, the meaning of Christmas is often forgotten and more focus is on the commercial side. It could be the beginning of a meaningful Christmas tradition for them.

Today, Dec. 26, I reflected in my quiet time with God the blessings and joy of Christmas day spent with family. My husband and I are blessed with 3 beautiful, active, wonderful grandchildren. My greatest wish for them is to know the love of my Savior and Lord, Jesus! I love reading to them and I especially love to hear their version of the story as they recreate it by looking at the pictures! Sometimes hilarious but more often than not very insightful. “Out of the mouth of babes” often comes to my mind. Thank you for helping to spread the greatest story ever told!

How special was this to receive in my mailbox today! From the few pages I see here this appears to be such a special work of art! This day is special to me also as it is my birthday! Yes, I am 60 years old but I certainly do not feel that old! The first thing I thought of when seeing this is how perfect it would be for my sister, Grand-MaMa Dean. She has six grand children and we just found out last week another precious boy is on the way! Yes my sweet precious Kyla is having another bundle of joy after losing a baby earlier in the year. I don’t think there is a more perfect Mother just as she was always a perfect niece! For years my sister has collected special Christmas books that are brought out each year to read. All have such wonderful meanings and I try to find something unique for her! I hope you understand why I just would not be able to keep this all to myself but I never had children and would love for my sister’s whole family to keep this special gift in their traditions. We spend each year with them anyway so I will always be able to enjoy this special gift too! Thank you so much for the opportunity and I do hope that you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas!

This is a beautiful book. I would love to have it to give to my granddaughter. I am not allowed to visit with her often because her mom is not happy with me because I stand firm with my faith. I know she is an adult and she can make her own choice – but I do not have to waver in my faith with the choices she makes. I just continue to love her even when I do not agree with her, but this would be a gift to my grand daughter- so she can see that she is loved and the words from Jesus will always be true.

This lovely book would allow me to share the reason for the season with others. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

I fell in love with this book immediately. It is well done and of course there is no more important message to be told. We have a little grandson who will turn 3 in February, the perfect age for memorizing and the rhyming words make that so much fun.
As I read the other notes here, I know that I have no greater need for this gift than anyone else and I wish that I had enough money to buy each person who wrote a copy. Thank you for introducing us to it and Merry Christmas.

You truly have a gift. God has blessed you with the ability of communicating his most complex ideas to the little children that he treasures. I am on our evangelism team and I know that best time to win a soul for Christ is before the age of 14, before the world gets its grip on them! PRAISE GOD for your work in this endeavor. I pray that God who has begun this good work in you will bring it to completion!! God Bless.

Happy Birthday Jesus and Merry Christmas Everyone
It is pretty coincidental as I sit here in the largest teaching hospital in the United States and rock this drug addicted premature baby to sleep I was reading your email and it came to me that your gorgeous book would be a beautiful gift that I could share with thousands of babies here in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where I have worked as a Registered Nurse and a Lactation Consultant for over 25 years.
I adopted two drug addicted premature babies who were born at 24 weeks (6months) of age who are now applying and getting accepted into college as I rock this little precious baby that will also be placed in foster care and God willing adopted!
I will use your book as an instrument to share the beauty of the birth of Christ through this magical Christmas season, for these may be the first times their innocent little ears will have heard this incredible news.

What a great book! The illustrations are beautiful, and the rhyming is so appealing to young readers. I would love a copy of your book so I could read it with my children. We read scriptures and scripture stories to our children each night, and this would make such a great addition to our library. I truly believe learning and following God’s Word is the only real cure for all that ails the world today. Teaching the rising generation is our greatest hope.

We are so happy for you, Linda. What a thrill to have your books in print. Johnny is a writer and knows the feeling. The other day he told me that EVERYONE should read a children’s book at Christmas time and I can’t think of a more appropriate one than yours. We both really like poetry too, so this should be extra special.

Again, Congratulations, we didn’t know you were a book writer, too. You are so talented! May you continue to serve the Lord with your wonderful gifts.

Hi Linda, Merry Christmas to you and your lovely family from Down Under. I so much enjoy being a member of Digital Scrapper and appreciate all the hard work that must go into keeping all the digital scrapping family happy.

I love your book and would like a copy for my first and only Grandchild Noah for a couple of reasons. I think it is paramount in the lives of children, and adults too, to nurture their faith whatever it may be and to let them know there is a God who will guide them through life’s up and downs, through happy times and sad times in their lives.

Also my only Grandchild on the 10th of January is leaving our shores with his parents to live in Qatar indefinitely. It will be such a hard thing to kiss him (and my daughter and her husband) goodbye and I would love to give him a gift from Grandma and Grandad, so that when Mum reads him the story of Jesus she can also let him know who is it from and how much we love him.

Looking forward to being a Digital Scrapper into 2013 and trying to make a little more effort with my projects.

Linda, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! I thoroughly enjoy Digital Scrapper with my favorite being “My Story, Brilliant.” Finishing 30 pages and only being half way thru would never have happened without you. But one of my favorite parts was learning more and more about you personally! Such an exciting life! I have always told people about your site as I have learned so much from you. However, after the My Story class, I also think of you as a friend! You are an encourager when I really need one! I would love to be able to read to my grandchildren your book about Jesus. They so love the story!! We never want to forget the real meaning of Christmas.

Thanks so much to you, your family and staff for all your hard work! Can’t wait to see what the New Year brings!

Linda, I have to admit that my favorite class has been the “My Story, Brilliant.” I have worked diligently on it, finishing pages for the first six months of tutorials equaling 30 pages of my book that I never would have done without your help! In the process, I thoroughly enjoyed learning more and more about you and was so excited to learn about your books! I have loved Digital Scrapper and refer everyone to your site, but now I feel as if I know you personally which makes everything from your site even more special! I would love to be able to share My Story and your book (and all about you) with family and friends (especially the grandkids). They would so thoroughly enjoy your book about Jesus!

One had severe medical problems requiring lots of surgery – and through it all he is very happy and now robust and healing well. One just had a major tumble and spent time in ICU a day or two ago. But he too is doing well and is expected to recover. So far the other 3 are healthy and adjusting to this life on earth. My prayers include starting these wee ones on the path to knowing God on a personal level so they know they can call on Him during times of trials and thanks givings. It would be an honor to have one of your books to share with them as they growl

When I did the assignment, “favorite things”, in the class, “My Story-Brilliant”, the first thing that came to mind was reading to my children, and now to my grandchildren. I think the most important stories to read to the little ones are Bible stories, so they grow up with these stories in their hearts. I would love to have Linda’s book. After the “My Story” and two “Elements” classes I feel like I know you and count you among the special people in my life who have challenged me to learn and grow. So part of the reading time would be spent telling about the person who wrote the book–which is part of the story!

Digital Scrapper was a wonderful God-send gift when I was first exploring the world of digital scrapbooking in 2008. I knew I had found a site I could truly trust when I linked your name to a book I had purchased back in the 90’s for my four year old son who was born in 1992. As an elementary educator who teaches poetry and as a writer of poetry myself, I just couldn’t bring myself to garage sale that book when my son was too old for it. I was amazed by the stories you put to simple rhyme making it such a fun, meaningful book to read. I hung on to it and, low and behold, I can now share it with my four grandchildren! I’d love to have the updated copy to give as a gift to them (while keeping my “old” copy at grandma’s house)! I can see from the replies you’ve already had that I am not the only grandma that loves reading to the next generation and wants a Godly heritage passed on. I’m so glad the book has been republished.

Thank you for this opportunity. I think that children could use more of the type of book that was “popular” when I was growing up some 40 years ago. Stories with wholesome stories, often teaching important life lessons. Today’s popular trends in youth literature is as much of pop culture – everything faster or flashier than the last trend. It instills a sense of hopelessness and a lack of empathy for their culture to be so superficial. What better book to combat that trend than the Bible for children.
    Merry Christmas and Thanks again,
    Rose-Anne

Count me in this wonderful give away of something your family has created! Love the word “create” or even “re-create”, it brings to mind my Creator knowing we would not be here if not for Him! So, LOVE the story told in this book and would LOVE to have it in my collection…I’d even LOVE to have the first creation of this book to be honest! And, let us all keep on with our creative gifts in this digital world of scrapbooking and savoring those memories!! Thank you for the chance to have this gift!

Merry Christmas to you all at Digital Scrapper’s and thank you for ALL the wonderful gifts we find here!

    Merry Christmas.

Every Christmas Eve as my children were growing I read a story to them called Siegfried’s Silent Night. The book has survived 30 years but is looking a little worn.

This year my daughter, who lives London UK, asked if I could send her the book to read to my grandson’s (2 & 4 years old). As my oldest son was going there for Christmas I sent the book with him. My daughter wanted to teach her children the true meaning of Christmas.

Your book would be a wonderful addition with all of it’s stories to share throughout the year.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and best wishes for a healthy and happy new year. Your are indeed a very talented lady and one who lives her faith daily; that is apparent. My children are grown and having children of their own. My daughter has 2 small children ages 2 and 5 who would love this book. Kathryn reads to each child every night and they love their books. In fact they “read” the books to me when I visit. This book would be one I know they would love and read over and over again. I would love to have a chance to get it for them. Thanks for your generosity.

Merry Christmas to your family! First of all I want to thank you for the 25 days of Christmas. I just had a new grandson in July and he has an older sister that this would be perfect to have to read to them. It is so important to instill in children especially when they are small and very impressionable what Jesus did for us and what Christmas is really all about. Thanks for this chance to win your lovely book.

I want to take this opportunity to wish a Merry Christmas to the Digital Scrapper team. Your creativity, talent and hard work is a blessing to many digi-scrappers.
The Rhyme Bible Storybook looks beautiful and I’m know my grandchildren would love to sit and look at the pictures as we read the stories together – or just sit by themselves and look at the pictures. These are the most important stories they will hear and it is my prayer that they will always know and love our Savior, Jesus Christ.
I’m looking forward to what Digital Scrapper has planned for the New Year!

A few years ago, I was asked to help review children’s Bibles for our church. I kept coming back to one Bible in particular, partly because something felt so familiar about it. When I checked the author, I realized why. It was your Bible! I loved how your words drew the reader in and brought anticipation for the next part of God’s story. I wished I could keep a copy!

I would treasure this updated edition!
Thank you for working to help bring God’s Word to our youngest and impressionable people!

This looks like a lovely story book. Just this month, I started teaching the 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s at church. I go to each class. We sing a song or two, and I read from a story book. It is simple, but I believe I am putting down good seeds. I would love to add this book to our story time.

Happy Holidays. I have been a member for so many years, I can’t remember. I’v enjoyed all the kits and videos through the years.
I have three adopted grandchildren- in the sense that they live downstairs from me and although I am not related by blood, they call me grandma and practically live in my home. I adore them. They are christian and go to church every Sunday with their parents. I am Jewish but thought it would be a lovely gift for them. They are 4 year old twins and a six year old. They are always telling me everything about Jesus and saying the funniest things- like they would love to live in my apartment when I am with Jesus. Anyway, I thought they’d love the book- the 6 year old reads to his siblings.

I am not a grandparent yet, but my oldest daughter will be starting her family with her husband soon. I read to all my children when they were young. I always had so much fun doing different voice for the characters in the books I would read to them and they loved hearing the stories. I would love to add this book to the library of my favorite children’s books that I have saved over the years to read to my grandchildren. What a wonderful addition it would make! Thanks for the chance to win a copy, you are so generous. Merry Christmas to you and yours and have a wonderful New Years!

My oldest son has gotten himself involved is a very distructive lifestyle and we are raising one result of this. A beautiful three year old boy who has come to love Jesus very much. Our prayer is to have our grandson long enough for God to help us set his feet firmly on the path to slavation. This book would be another tool we could use in sharing with him how much he is loved by God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone!

    Hi Linda,
I have four grandkids that I would love to read the Bible stories to. Years ago, I bought your first edition of this book and read it to my two girls. When they grew up, I loaned it to a friend for her children and never got it back. I loved the book because the stories were explained so wonderfully that children could understand them.
What to my surprise when I found out that the author was the founder of my favorite company.

This book will be for my two year old daughter who is really beginning to experience the joy of Christmas now that she understands a little more what is going on around her. She loves seeing all the lights most of all! We are trying to teach her the story behind our Christmas celebration and this book would be a wonderful tool for that! I think she would really enjoy it, as at her pre-school Christmas program this year, her class sang Away in a Manger and the two pages illustrated above reminded me exactly of her program!

    Merry Christmas Linda,
what a darling book. I attended Christmas Eve services with my daughter and 3 grand daughters. In the sermon, the pastor stated how today, many Children do not know or have never heard the story of our dear saviour Jesus Christ. What a wonderful way to share the news with little ones. We all love to hear rhymes and for some reason they stay with us. So thank you for writing such a book.

    Dear Linda and family
How lovely to receive a Christmas message, very much appreciated, thank you so much. Blessings to you and your family at this special time. I would absolutely love a copy of your book. I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself, had a rotten few years, end-no violins! and my 3 children all grown up and left. I have however, 4 grandchildren, two of whom are just starting school, and have done their first Nativity this year. As you can imagine, tissues at the ready, then got a horrible chest infection, and missed it! Woe is me. Anyway, they are just starting to understand the Christmas Story, and have been looking at the Childrens Bible that belonged to their parents, and your book would bring back so many memories of sitting with their parents, and them discovering the magic of the real meaning of Christmas. I was thrilled when the youngest, Oscar is 4, looked at some advert on the tv, and said, Nanny, that is Baby Jesus. Bless him, and everyone else this Christmastime, and always. May Peace Prevail.

I would love to win this book. One week ago I found out that my company is changing me from 40 hrs a week to 24 hrs a week starting January 1st after 10 years of being with the company. As I am a single income person with no ability to get help from family or friends it has been a major shock and I am trying to make sure I don’t lose my house before I can get another part time job to supplement. I had to tell my 4 grand kids there would be no gifts for Christmas and this would be something that I could give to the 5 year old and 8 year old to share that would also remind them of what Christmas is about. I am giving them cards with a letter inside telling them what I love and cherish about each of them.
