I am just about to start using old classes and Zing cutter and do scrapbooking with 5 great grand children who are bored since school is out again because of damage from hurricare Ida. I have finally recovered ( or at least hope so) from a difficult hand surgery (right hand of course).
Now I fill like starting somewhere and I believe scrapbooking would be the place to start.
Kids need something other than the boob toob. Watching others open packages and explaining how to use toys.

This would use their imagination and mine. juditZ

I have been a digital scrapbooker since 2009 when my sister, after seeing me cut so many photos and papers and then gluing them to paper, introduced me to Photoshop 6 and told me how easier cutting and gluing would be with the use of this program.

I got interested in digital when all the artsy pages started appearing in magazines. And, I wanted to do that! I’m still learning how to do that but it’s been so fun along the way. I’ve been dabbling with digital for about 15 years on and off.

Q: What got you interested in digital scrapbooking?
My friend, Amy, told me about digi scrapping and we took a free basic class through somewhere online. I posted on the internet about some digi scrappin questions I had and Linda Sattgast replied. She was so helpful and pointed me to scrapper’s guide – that’s what digital scrapper was called in the early days. Isigned up for premier and bought PSE from Costco and learned from Linda’s class on the included cd. Thanks to Linda, I have been hooked on digi scrappin ever since.

Q: How long have you been a digital scrapbooker?
Over 15 years. I remember because I started doing digi scrappin right after my youngest was born.

Q: What got you interested in digital scrapbooking?
Taking a class for Photoshop Elements – like the first version – it was awesome and I could see all the potential.
Q: How long have you been a digital scrapbooker?

I have been a photoshop user since early photoshop days, but only in the last couple of years have I become more proficient. I liked the idea of scrapbooking but was not interested in paper scrapbooking. Now I scrapbook my grandchildren and the wildlife in our backyard. I have taken lots of photoshop classes as well as classes specific to scrapbooking and in every one I have learned at least one thing I didn’t know. I have found that I am drawn to the more artsy pages and am taking classes on this type of scrapbooking. Digital Scrapper was my first and main source of SB classes. I am retired now and want to keep learning new things not only to keep my mind sharp but to be more creative.

I’ve been using Photoshop since 1998. I got started because I wanted to improve my computer skills and because I love technology and art. I joined Scrappers Guide in 2005 when I was looking for ideas for my daughter’s wedding album, and continued to this day. I think I should have a master’s degree in Photoshop by now! I love to make books for my grandchildren, I’ve made a big genealogy album for each child and many travel albums for us. I also produce my own Christmas card designs and just about anything else I can do with Photoshop. With seven grandchildren I have kept busy making those albums.

I did some paper scrapbooking in the early 2000’s, including making the book itself as a gift for my brother’s wedding. So fun! Around that time, my Dad developed Macular Degeneration. He was working on putting together a scrapbook of his own, though he didn’t like it being called a scrapbook. It was his “project”, essentially, he was writing his memoirs, and adding photos to his story.
The trouble was, he couldn’t see it unless he used his reading machine. I had taken a few multi-media courses, including photoshop. I decided I would put his memoirs in a presentation that he could see on his large screen TV. I researched programs for that purpose, and came across one, Memory Mixer, that I thought would work. It didn’t. I didn’t have enough control over the length of each slide, or enough text on a page. Eventually I realized that a combo of photoshop and iMovie was the way to go.
And the rest, as they say, is history. I started making some of my own embellishments, and realized how much I love designing, and eventually started designing at ScrapGirls!
I started digital scrapbooking around 2010, and became a designer for ScrapGirls in 2012.

I was a traditional scrapbooker and realized that if I did the scrapbook digitally I could make extra copies for my kids–which they love! Also, the digital books don’t take up so much space and I can work on my book without taking trunk loads of supplies. I’ve been doing digital scrapbooking for 13 years.

I began digital scrapping using another program. I spent about five years attempting to learn the program. I noticed a free tutorial from Linda Sattgast and began using PSE for my digital scrapping.
What has kept me here is the great written tutorials backed up by the wonderful videos. Without them I would have never learned to do digital scrapping using PSE and PS.

I’ve been learning digital scrapbooking since I got a copy of Linda’s PSE tutorial when I purchased PSE at Costco. Those tutorials were so easy to follow it made PSE seem easy to learn. I love all the classes and “free” tutorial DS offers. The instructors make everything so easy to understand and with lifetime access, easy to review.

It’s been 12-13 years ago that I got into digital scrapbooking. Doing this on a computer was intriguing and didn’t want the mess of paper scraping. My son was a computer geek and I kept asking how he did various things he did and I wanted to learn. I then used this in digital scrapbooking. Been a member here when it was Scrappers Guide since 2009.

I bought my first digital camera in 2003 and became addicted to photography and improved cameras! I discovered a digital photo program that allowed me to make cards for friends and family members, after which I progressed to PSE and then to Photoshop a couple of years ago. In my learning process I found Digital Scrapper and wonderful tutorials which I still use. I am just starting to work on scrapbook pages. I love all the wonderful kits available that make it an easier process. I have taken some classes and would love to win one! 😊 Thanks for the wonderful tutorials you provide.

In 1998, I had to have surgery on my leg with the surgeon telling me I needed to find another occupation where I wasn’t on my legs all the time. I knew I needed to have a sit-down job, but all my skills were in managing restaurants.

The computer age had just caught on and, although I knew nothing about them, they intrigued me. So, I went and bought myself an entire system including the printer and scanner, and taught myself how to operate it. Of course, there was no Google or YouTube back then to do things and I was pretty much on my own.

Once I got online and saw the graphics people were showing, I was hooked! That was what I wanted to learn how to do! The first step I took was learning how to write HTML coding and JavaScript so I could design my website and from there, things just grew. All I wanted to do was the art part – coding was tedious but graphics excited me! However, they also frustrated me because I couldn’t get them to look as clean and sharp as I wanted.

As the years passed, I tried my hand at regular scrapbooking and it just didn’t appeal to me like the digital version of it so I sold all my supplies and went back to just painting on canvas for my artistic outlet. I bought the Making Memories program and learned a lot from it. I then bought more packages that other artists had created to use with my personal photos and loved some results I was seeing – but I wanted to have the ability to create those things myself rather than having to buy them all the time.

Now, here I am at the ripe old age of 70 and I still have a voracious appetite to learn how to do things with digital art and especially scrapbooking, but now, sadly, my pocketbook isn’t as full as it once was when I was working all the time. Now, I want to learn how to create images other people want to buy from me so I can make some extra income. To take more classes, to learn these things is in alignment with my primary goal. I have PSCS6 and PSE2020 along with Corel Paint Shop Pro 2021 and I can use them all almost equally well but am still working on some things so, being able to get one of the classes free would be wonderful!

Okay, that’s all I got now…thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest!

I became interested in digital scrapping when I got PSE and a copy of Linda Sattgast’s learning PSE. I have been scrapping ever since Linda started Scrappers Guide. My scrapping hasn’t been so much since the grandkids grew up. I have been trying to work on the heritage photos and organizing the old photos. But still find time to make some pages of all the Roadside America photos, National Parks, birds, snakes, animals, insects, and anything else that captures my fancy.

My mother and sister created paper based scrapbooks and I loved the way they looked. However, I didn’t like the idea of going to various stores to purchase items and then selecting and sometimes cutting items to create the pages. Then, storing all of the supplies that are left over.
Early last year I saw an advertisement for a Digital Scrapbooking organization. I attended the introductory meeting and joined the organization. I love it but still have quite a bit to learn. Thank you for the sales on your classes and the opportunity to win a class!

I’ve been digital scrapbooking for 8 years. I was papercrafting for about 10 years before that. How I got into digi was a happy accident. I was google where to find/buy acid-free paper and saw an image of a paper texture I linked. I clicked on the link and expected to see details for shipping but it was a digital product. I was stunned at how realistic it was. I purchased it straight away and then printed a copy of it at home. After that I went in search of more realistic-looking resources and found a tonne of free ones that I could print and use. This led me to a vibrant digi community where I was introduced to different softwares and tutorials on how to use the resources on computer and not have to print. I’ve never looked back. 🙂

I’ve been a traditional scrapper since 1997 when I got involved with Creative Memories.
I still scrapbook traditionally, but love the multiple options of digital scrapbooking, as it makes it easier to share my final albums.
I’ve created three digital books since I first started in 2008 and need to create one before the end of this year – I get side-tracked with family ancestor research, art work and life.
I have been “collecting” digital scrapbook kits since 2006 when I first found Websites that allowed me to purchase and just recently switched computers and found that I still have at least 2,000 kits to unzip!
It is definitely time to get back into this wonderful world of creation and to share my family memories.

I received a copy of Photoshop 2 as a gift. That gift started me editing pictures. Then in the late 90’s I attempted to make something like a movie poster (that was so awful, so glad there is a delete button!!) That got me started with adding to my pictures. I had never paper scrapped, but doing it digitally was wonderful, the undo command is wonderful. Then when layers came about it really made such a difference. In the early 2000’s I started doing a calendar for my family as a Christmas gift, so my scrapbooking really started rolling. Love the classes with Digital Scraper, you teach the “how” to do things, not one persons individual sty le, love it!! Your classes are great, they teach the concepts, and I can take it from there!!

I began using PSE to try layouts for my scrapbooking. I would move things around, resize and then when I liked my creation, I would print each layer (didn’t know that term at the time) and then paste it to a page in a paper scrapbook. Being much fonder of computers than paper, I looked around and discovered Digital Scrappers where I learned to do it all digitally. That was probably in the early 2000’s

When my kids were young I had no interest in scrapbooking. One day I discovered a paper die cutter at the store and saw all the cute dies that could be used with it. This started my interest in card making and then scrapbooking. For some reason around 2009 I purchased PSE7 and that’s what got me started on the digital journey. Once I discovered how much quicker it was to create digital pages, I never went back to paper. I soon became interested in designing my own papers and elements as well. What I love about digital scrapbooking… in one word – UNDO. I can not even count the number of hours I would have a paper scrapbooking layout sit out and contemplate should I use this paper or that, should I order a larger (or smaller) size print of this photo? Should I cut this element, photo, paper… all so stressful in wanting to get it right. With digital scrapbooking I can try all these things and if I don’t like it…. I always have the UNDO button.

I have been digital scrapbooking since 2003.

Hi, I was introduced to paper scraping by a friend in Georgia in 2002, but only made a few pages, spent a fortune on all the supplies/embellishments/papers and equipment….still have lots unused. Then around 2004 went to a Scrapbooking Expo in Salt Lake City and took a class from the DigitalScrapbookTeacher, and another for Memory Mixer software. In 2007 purchased Photoshop Elements from COSTCO which contained Linda Sattgast’s Scrapbooking DVD. One would think that I would be proficient by now, but despite all my good intentions I am very much still a beginner because I’ve actually only created three pages in all those years…….but, the intentions are still there.

I loved the idea of a computer when I first got one at work! remember when there were one or two new websites A DAY? Then my husband bought me the first Mac Mini to work on my photos. I got one of the early Mac versions of PS , Photoshop 4. I cried trying to teach myself before there were many tutorials at all on line. I eventually switched to PSE – and thank you Linda Sattgast for that software & accompanying guides which I got at Costco! by 2008 I had seen others making ‘layouts’ and jumped into Digital Scrapbooking. I never wanted to try paper scrapping with the cutting, the glue and without my beloved CMD-Z. I love the ability to do clean and simple pages, artsy ones etc. This year I am doing a TN Project Life and it’s been fun working with the 4×8 size. Challenging too! One of the things I also really love is that there is always something new to learn! and it’s usually an easier, quicker way. I made my first scrapbook at 12 years of age and kept going into adulthood, using papers and materials I imported from the US as there was no such thing as scrapbooking anywhere near me so supplies were unavailable here (Western Australia). Once scrapbooking stores opened up here and I learnt about the need for Acid Free products, a whole new world opened up for me. The only problem was the mess!
By that time I had young children and I scrapped at the dining table so the mess and packing up became the largest part of my scrapping.
Once I owned a digital camera I knew there had to be an easier way so I searched the internet once I also had a computer, and nearly drove myself insane trying to learn Photoshop, I think it was PS4 at the time. I also soaked up all the tutorials I could find on US TV channels.
There, in 2006 I watched a Linda Sattgast interview and knew my sanity was saved! That began my true digital experience and learning process! Digital Scrapper (Scrappers Guide) has been my ‘always-go-to place’ for help, information and encouragement. With her Premier programme I never had to go anywhere else for everything I needed.

About 10 years ago I retired, downsized, and moved from the west coast to the east coast all in 2months. For as long as I can remember I had a kraft room in my home. When we sold our house and mover across Canada we rented an apartment that allowed us more free time and fewer household obligations so we could travel more but I lost my kraft room in the process 🙁
So out of frustration from having to kraft on the kitchen table I turned to digital scrapbooking which I had heard of but knew nothing about…..turns out it was the answer to all my problems and I have never looked back. I like to work with glitter and glue so I haul it all out every time my grandson comes for a visit 🙂
PS: I bought my first digital camera just before we moved and I just happened to buy Photoshop Elements so I could catalog and edit all those photos that were already starting to add up.
I have been digital scrapping for just over 10 years now, and I would still consider myself an intermediate scrapper. I am still learning and very much appreciate all the wonderful tutorials that the Digi community share with us and all the classes that are offered to help us along the way.

I got started in digital scrapbooking because I liked the look of digital alphabets that I couldn’t get from paper alphas. And the idea of no mess, no pulling out my stash and having to put it away when I was done because I couldn’t leave it out. Of not having to buy 2 of everything since I duplicated layouts for my 2 girls. I really got started digitally in 2012 – now I just need someone to buy all of my non-digital supplies.

I wanted the perfect gift for my father’s 80th Birthday, so I created all my pages in Photoshop Elements and uploaded them to Shutterfly. My father was so touched by the album which started with him and my mother’s marriage, my brother and sister at different stages of growing up, and finally our marriages and children. He said that was the best present and will cherish it always. That started my love for scrapbooking.
I’ve been creating albums for 16 years. I also enjoy making all my birthday and other occasion cards with personalized layouts with pictures.

Before digital scrapbooking was a “thing,” I was a crafter who had managed to resist the siren call of paper scrapbooking because of the additional expense and supplies (and mess). But I was obsessed with the photos from our special times, and as a less than stellar photographer I found myself drawn more and more into Photoshop. Eventually that led me to digital scrapbooking. I’ve been digital since about 2003 and, I think, part of the Digital Scrapper family since 2014 ish. Maybe a bit earlier. I’ve learned more in this community than in all my other scrapbooking/photo editing venues combined.

I’ve been following DS for about 10 years (?) from when Linda sent out free tutorials! I have been creating photo journals on an annual basis starting in 2009, and the tricks and tutorials have been a big help. I like nice clean pages with photos of events throughout a given year, so a lot of the techniques that I see on your site are too fussy for my projects. However, I am sure I would benefit from a free class if offered! Thank you

I became interested in digital scrapbooking as soon as I discovered it was available! I didn’t have to have room to spread out my supplies and have to clean them up after every work session. I could also use digital photos and crop them how I wanted instead of needing to print them. I could also use a photo in multiple projects without making multiple prints. I can also print multiple pages or books and only need to design it once. I haven’t looked back since!

I started digitally scrapping in 2004. At the time it was pretty much drag and drop on pre-made pages. They are called quick pages now. The biggest draw for me was the convenience of digital scrapping versus traditional paper scrapping. I loved that I could sit down for a few minutes or hours without having to pull out tons of items. The “clean up” was awesome too compared to traditional! LOL

Years ago, my friend Joan kept talking about scrapbooking on the computer. I wasn’t really interested because I was sharpening my Word skills and trying to become more proficient in Microsoft Office. But Joan is persistent. She wouldn’t give up talking to me about scrapbooking on the computer. [She was actually annoying.] I gave in and enrolled with her in my first Digital Scrapbook class.
I was hooked!!! I was fascinated at the ability to improve my digital photos and show them off in wonderful ways that I had never considered. Scrapbooking without all the fuss and mess to clean up afterwards.
I actually taught classes at our community college and have loved Digital Scrapbook for at least 15 years.

I had to look at when I first signed up for Digital Scrapper email subscription and it was in the fall of 2016. This led me down the path to blend photography with digital artistry techniques and the journey is still in progress. I recently took up watercolor painting and hope to blend that medium into the mix as well. Thanks for your super course. I have purchased almost all of them, They are simple and easy to follow.

    Thanks

    Gail

I started three years ago. We are full-time rvers and couldn’t do traditional scrapbooking on the road. A fellow camper suggested digital. I had never heard of it before. So glad she did!! I can now do my passion on the road. Thank you so much for all your classes, I am learning so much!!!!

I have been a digital scrapbooker for about 4 years now, I still consider myself in the beginning/intermediate stages, I mostly use products that are basically finished that I can just add/clip my pictures to and add a few minor touches. I would love to learn more so I can create my own designs. Working with the different layers and elements is sometimes challenging and the majority of the masks are just not quite right for my photos at the time. I would love to be able to tweak the masks to suit but do not know how. I took several of your classes and have loved them, to be able to win a free one would be great, my learning curve since I am 70 now, is just not the same as when I was 50, lol. Classes are great because I can go over and over until I get it. Thank-you for this opportunity

Being interested in ‘computers’ and feeling a need to do ‘something’ with our photosgot me interested in digital scrapbooking. I’m a digital scrapbooker since the beginning of Scrappers Guide, around 20 years now and I still love it.
