Back-to-School Photo Ideas
by Jen White

Every August, I LOVE to go to the grocery store.

The reason? School supplies!

I’m a school supply junkie. Even with my kids out of school, I still cannot resist the purchase of a 24 cent box of Crayola Crayons.

In fact, the whole idea of returning to learning with fresh supplies and a giddy spirit warms my heart.

Whether it warms your heart, or completely stresses you out, going back to school is something you will want to thoroughly document with photos and journaling.

Here’s a list of fabulous blogposts to get you inspired to start capturing memories.

Here are some additional ideas for back-to-school photos:

  • Take a snapshot of your student’s tall stack of textbooks. My kids were all classically homeschooled, so our book stacks were always REALLY high (and impressive, wink).
  • Scan or photograph their signature. It’s fun to see how their signature changes over the school year and over the years to come.
  • Ask your student a list of basic questions and journal their answers in a blogpost or on a scrapbook page. Like . . . What’s your favorite food? Who is your best friend? What do you want to be when you grow up?
  • Always photograph their backpack. Backpacks are a BIG deal!

So how about you?

What are some things you plan to do, or have done in the past, to capture the excitement of back to school?

Oh yes! I love the back to school supplies. I love office supplies in general. I get my “highs” by going in a fabric store or office supply store and just sniffing! Love taking my grandchildren there too. It warmed my heart to hear my granddaughter exclaim “it smells so good in here”. 🙂 As a child I loved getting my new supplies, especially my book satchel. Yep, no book bags back then!

    Awesome ideas!
I e-mailed it to my son and DIL (who live far away) and I hope they use it A LOT for my granddaughter! Thank you!

What a nice list of great ideas. I don’t have school age children anymore either, but I still love the office supply sections and stores. The only thing I don’t like about the back to school idea is that it means summer is rapidly coming to an end. 🙁
