Digital Scrapper Tradition Challenge

with 7 Comments

We’ve got a really fun new challenge for you! What’s your favorite Holiday Tradition? We want you to scrap about it! Tell us about the yummy sweets you make, fun places you visit, holiday activities you participate in, family members you visit, etc. – we want to see it!

I made this little page to document a new Holiday tradition that we just started this last week. It’s been a big hit in our family:

by Andrea Graves

We picked up this ELF on a SHELF from Barnes & Noble bookstore. It’s a book that comes with an Elf that your family gets to name (our boys named our Elf ‘Ted’), and this little Elf flies home to the North Pole each night and reports to Santa how the kids are behaving. Each morning when he comes back, Ted decides to land in a new place to observe the children’s behavior. (Why didn’t I get this 5 years ago? It would have been SO nice! LOL.) My boys LOVE this!

I know each of you have special recipes, activities, fun traditions and other festivities, and we would love to see what your specialty is!

The winner of this challenge will receive a $10 gift certificate to the Scrapper’s Guide Shop where you can find fabulous Photoshop Elements & Adobe Photoshop Video Tutorials, plus gorgeous kits and templates.

Here’s how to enter this fun challenge:

  1. Create a page sharing your favorite Christmas Tradition (old or new) using a kit you love.
  2. Upload your page to our Challenge Gallery.
  3. Share the love by leaving a comment on another page in our gallery. (Not required but highly encouraged!)

This challenge is open for 2 weeks. It will officially be closed to new entries on night of December 19th, 2010 at midnight (Pacific Time).

The winner will be announced here on this blog, on our Facebook page, Twitter page and in our Forum within a week of the challenge end date.

We can’t wait to see how you chose to document your favorite Holiday Tradition!

Happy Scrapping!

~Andrea 🙂

One of my favourite traditions is making my almond apricot biscotti. I got the recipe years ago from a Italian co-worker, and my siblings love it. I’m expected to bring it every year when we get together for Christmas.

We always make a gingerbread house and this year I decided that as all our children are grownup I wouldn’t be making one. My youngest daughter was so disappointed so I have made a tidy wee one just for her.

We have special decorations that ALWAYS go up. They remind us of earlier Christmases, when the kids were little. The grown kids always love seeing them again, too.

We don’t have too much as far as traditions around our house except to travel to grandparents homes. I’ve read several things this past week that makes me wish (for a moment) that my kids were younger to do some of these fun elf kind of things!! Good luck to all on this challenge, can’t wait to see some of your traditions, maybe we’ll have to adopt a few!

Until my dad passed away and my mother could no longer take care of herself, all of our family holidays were spent traveling to their home. Sometimes, I regretted that this was our only tradition, but I couldn’t bring myself to disappoint my parents (they were tied down caring for my disabled sister). I wish I could travel now to spend one more holiday with them.
